Homework

It's important to give students Homework that can make them think of what they learned in school that day and to challenged them so they can be ready for harder work.

Some teachers will give their students easy work that they won't pick up new information and to think about what they just learned in school. The reason why the teachers would do that is because some of them thinks that kids who are in life skills are so different then kids who are in honors. That's not true any kid no matter the level they are in, they can learned anything.

Important to learned this subjects. Because of the MCAS the teachers focus only on getting their students ready for the test so they rush through the subjects to make sure they touch a bond everything. That's not good at all. They should take the time and make sure their students are learning.

I love Super nanny ever since I was little. These kids still do their Homework at 9:30 at night and they don't get it done by 11:00 which is bedtime for these kids.

Different learning styles

There are different kinds of learning styles within the class room. There is visual learners that needs to look at pictures to understand what they are learning.
Auditory learners are the people that needs to listen to sound or music to understand what they are learning.
Verbal learners who prefer words.
Physical Learners learned from body movements.

Some people are a combination of two different learning styles. Some people learn better by themselves and some people learn better talking to different people. To Some people Math comes easy.

Homeless students

Believe it or not there are students who are homeless in elementary school, Middle school, High School, and even college. Profitey happens when their family can afford much and they try whatever it takes to go to school and get an education. My Friend from MASSPIRG is homeless and she wants to stay in this country to get an education. She was kicked out from her host familybecause of her religion. Now she is been getting up by another family and the hunger and homeless campaign at MASSPIRG are helping her sell her scurfs so she can make money to stay here.

This is sad and we should do what we can to help our fellow students. The State of Florida has one of the largest population of homeless children and youth and on a 2015 report 71,446 students were identify as homeless during the 3013-2014 school year. More than 1.6 million children living in the United States are homeless (Institute for Children Poverty and Homelessness, 2014) and over 16 million live below the poverty line.

These numbers are scary. In 1987 president Ronald Reagon signed The Homeless Assistance Act for homeless students to have access to a free education. This still give these students challenges to be able to do well in school expressionly if they are oing to be living in cars.

This is another inspiration movie based on a book on her life story about when she was homeless and how she went to Harvard University. I came from Worcester Tech and Liz actually came to my school as a guess speaker and telling us her experiences. After her talk me and a couple of others went to meet her and gave her an interview.

Anxiety

Not all students are good with taking tests, that doesn't mean they are not working as hard as someone who passed every test they get. Even if they would study all night for the test the next day doesn't mean they will pass. I am bad at taking tests and all I do is study. Not everyone have that gift of being able to take a test without Anxiety takes over.

Everyone feels anxious now and then, it's a normal feeling. Many people do get nervous with a problem at work such as taking a test or making a big decision. There are different kinds of Anxiety disorders. It causes distress and makes things hard to led a normal life. This is a serious mental illness. There are treatments for Anxiety that can help everyone to go back into a fulfilled life.
There are several kinds of Anxiety that includes Panic disorder, Social anxiety disorder, Specific Phobia and Generalizing anxiety disorder,

These are the symptoms for Anxiety Attacks and Panic Attacks and how they are different from each other.
Crash Course is a great way to learned about Biology and Psychology and understand different terms better. I watched his Biology videos when I was getting ready for my Biology MCAS in 9th grade and he was one of the reasons why I passed. He goes over different types of Anxiety including OCD. My mom has OCD when it comes to aphobitis our DVD's, CDs. and Yogurts. OCD stands for Obsessive Compultion Disorder. There aren some people with OCD who would washed their hands a thousand times or clean everything over and over again. That doesn't mean they are crazy. On Glee there is a woman name Emma who has the washing her hands and always being clean type of OCD. Which is a bit extreme. Anxiety Disorders often are in teens and adults.

The Freedom Writers

The Freedom Writers is about an amazing teacher who helped her students to overcome their differences and gave them books to read that they can relate to their lives.

This was class 203 and everyone loves Erin Gruwell. I hope that I can make that much of an impact when I become a teacher.

This is the book that they created with all their diaries. They are the actual teacher and students. She actually came as a guest speaker at my school Worcester Tech before I came there. I would love to meet her, now that wood be an honor.

This was from a scene in the movie when Ms. Gruwell asked questions and if it implies to them they will step on the line. This shows that they have more things alike then different.
I love this movie, what a inspiration.

Special Education in college

More and more students with disabilities are thinking about wanting to go to college after High School. For someone with disabilities they have to know their rights and responsibilities of being a college student. There are opportunities and services for students with disabilities that they have to check out so they can succeed. At Salem State there is disability service as well as Trio, peer tutoring, and the writing center.

Everyone should have the opportunity to go to college no matter what the disability. All students with a disability are different from high functioning to low functioning. Back when I was in High School at Worcester Tech the students don't choose what college they want to go in. Instead the school sends them to a special Ed program in assumption until they turn 23 then they are done with the program. That is wrong. All students should be able to choose what college they want to go to and the major they want to study in.  I got into this school because I have an IEP and when I send that in I was exempt from my SAT's. I didn't like my score and that's why it was better to just send my IEP.

I'm impress

Dyslexia

In this post I want to focus on a different type of learning disability. Some parents are concern when they found out that their child had dyslexia and they are afraid that they won't do well in school. But having dyslexia isn't failure, In fact it's very common. I have some friends who have dyslexia and they do very well in their classes. There are different ways to teach kids with dyslexia and parents can help too. You can educate your child on the symptoms and causes of dyslexia and the strategies to overcome their challenges.

This is what kids with dyslexia see when they are trying to read a book. Dyslexia is not a sign of low intelligence or laziness. It's just the way people with dyslexia's brains process the information. It doesn't just affect reading but writing and even speaking too.

Everybody is different! Dyslexia can make things harder for students to remember what they have read. Students with Dyslexia would have to work on connecting letters to sound, Decoding text, Recognizing "sight" words, Reading Fluently, and understanding the text itself. It's important to give him or her extra help when you see them struggling because when they start out struggling they rarely catch up on their own. When the child is diagnosed with dyslexia by 3rd grade, they will have an easier time to catch up but it's never too late.

Kids with dyslexia get low self-esteem and get frustrated because they have a hard time spelling.

Watch this video and you will understand more about dyslexia!
